To accompany the Great Wall of China, the country is now constructing the biggest ferris wheel in the world, properly dubbed, the Great Wheel of China. The ferris wheel was put into action on Monday and when completed, should stand over 680 feet. The ferris wheel was supposed to be open in time for the Olympic games next summer, but may not be finished because there were so many design changes. The giant wheel is being built in Beijing's Chaoyang Park at the same beach where the Olympic Volleyball Tournament will be held. The 99 million dollar project when completed will be able to hold over 1900 passengers in 48 air conditioned compartments. This will be China's second large ferris wheel in addition to the 525 foot Star of Nanchang which opened in 2006.
